Since the program’s founding in 1994, more than 1 million AmeriCorps members have contributed more than 1.2 billion hours in service across America while tackling pressing problems and mobilizing millions of volunteers for the organizations they serve.

ServeOhio Administers AmeriCorps in Ohio

ServeOhio creates opportunities for individuals to participate in an immersive service experience by partnering with local nonprofits, public agencies, and community organizations to develop high-impact AmeriCorps programs that address the local community's most critical needs in education, economic opportunity, health, and environmental stewardship. Through this unique state-local partnership, ServeOhio is able to address local needs while also providing a valuable service experience for the AmeriCorps member – building skills, increasing employment opportunities, and reducing higher-education debt for thousands of Ohioans.  In the current program year, ServeOhio supports 1,000 AmeriCorps members who will give 1.2 million hours of service at 500+ service sites across the state and will earn $4.5 million in education awards.

Funding for the AmeriCorps program comes from the federal AmeriCorps Agency.
