National Volunteer Week 2018

Volunteers make an incredible impact in communities across Ohio. According to the most recent Volunteering and Civic Life in America Report published by the Corporation for National and Community Service, millions of Ohioans make volunteering a priority in their lives. More than 26% of Ohioans (2.51 million) volunteer and give over 268 million hours of service per year. This equates to $6 billion of in-kind service to their communities.

April 15 – 21 is National Volunteer Week, which is an opportunity to recognize and thank the 2.5 million volunteers who lend their time, talent, and treasure to support causes they care about in their communities. There are many ways that volunteer program managers can recognize their volunteers this week. Check out these great lists from VolunteerMatch and Oregon Volunteers.

It’s also a great time to get more volunteers involved in doing good! Need some fresh recruitment ideas? Here’s a great list of Ten Time-Tested Volunteer Recruitment Tips that Still Work from Susan Ellis.

Here’s to recognizing and celebrating the volunteers who give so much to our organizations, our communities, and our state.
