Six Ohio AmeriCorps programs have been awarded more than $4.1 million dollars by our federal partner, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) , to continue their impact throughout Ohio! Our successful programs were selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants from across the country. The Ohio programs will engage more than 440 AmeriCorps members in a term of National Service to provide educational and social supports, increase health and wellness, and provide college access to more than 18,000 of Ohio’s students. The successful 2019 Ohio AmeriCorps programs include: City Year Columbus City Year Cleveland Ohio College Guides COMCorps Ohio Reading and Math Corps Teach for America- Ohio in Southwest and Greater Cleveland These programs are currently recruiting for their next life-changing cadre of members! AmeriCorps is a win-win-win solution with a focus on addressing local needs, providing AmeriCorps members with personal and professional development while chipping away at higher education costs through the educational award given to members that successfully complete their term of service. Every year, 75,000 AmeriCorps members serve communities in more than 21,000 schools, nonprofits, and community and faith-based organizations across the country. AmeriCorps has played a critical role in the recovery of communities affected by disasters and helped thousands of first-generation college students access higher education. AmeriCorps also has tutoring and mentorship opportunities, works to connect veterans to jobs, offers care for seniors, aims to reduce crime and revive cities and offers help to combat the opioid epidemic.
