The Ohio Community Service Council is pleased to announce the availability of funding to support new Ohio AmeriCorps programs to start in the Fall of 2009. Funding is available for 12-month planning grants.

AmeriCorps funds are available to nonprofit organizations, state/local government units, higher education institutions, faith-based organizations, and 501(c)3 entities that address some or more of the following issue areas: education, public safety, homeland security, environment, and other critical needs.

There were many instances and moments during my college career that led me to City Year Columbus. Most of my time spent at The Ohio State University was devoted to service. I was a board member of Habitat for Humanity at OSU where I not only worked in the Columbus area, but also building houses in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras. I realized during my last years at OSU, that my life would have to take a path in the Non-Profit arena in some way or another. City Year was finally an avenue I could venture into that encompassed my passion for Non-Profit work, the belief that youth can change the world, and my commitment to service all in one.
